Fall Maintenance On Your Tulsa Roof

roof maintenance tulsa, roof repairs tulsa, roof restoration tulsaEveryone is familiar with spring cleaning, but how about fall roof maintenance? Yeah, we didn’t think so. The truth, though, is that our homes in Tulsa need just as much attention in the fall to prepare for winter as they need cleaned in the spring – especially your home’s roof. The roof is your home’s first line of defense against the elements, and is constantly exposed to harsh conditions, so it is no wonder why proper roof maintenance is important. So here are some things you can do to ensure your roof is in good condition before winter arrives.

Roof Maintenance In Tulsa

1. Inspection:

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it – right? Well, how do you know that nothing is ‘broke’ on your roof if you don’t have it inspected? It is not always easy or obvious to see roof problems, and that is why you need a trained eye to inspect it for you. Oftentimes roof problems are not visible from the ground, or to those who aren’t familiar with what to look for. You need professional roof maintenance to get up on your roof SAFELY and identify if there are any issues that require attention. This should happen at least once a year to be sure that nothing goes unnoticed. You can’t fix what you don’t know is there, so now is a good time to get your roof inspected.

2. Repairs:

If your roof inspection finds something broken, missing, or damages, do not wait to get it repaired. Waiting too long to resolve an issue with your roof will only lead to further, more extensive, damages. If you are not equipped or able to handle the repairs on your own, Decor Construction is here to help.

3. Clean:

We know we know, we already made a nod to spring cleaning earlier, but fall is a good time to make sure that your gutters and downspouts are clean. If dirt, leaves, twigs, and whatever else you can think of, get stuck in your gutters, it could mean major problems for your roof and your home. Debris can clog your gutters, preventing proper water flow and causing water to back up onto your roof or overflow around your home’s foundation. In order to keep water safely draining from your roof, clean out those gutters.

4. Trees:

If you have trees on your property near your home that overhang your roof, you should do some trimming. We don’t need to sing the line, “Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin’ down the plain” to remind us of how serious the wind can be here – and wind and overlying tree branches can cause major damage to your roof. Branches that rest on or right above your roof can also dump excess water and moisture on your shingles, making them more vulnerable to damage in those areas. Worst case scenario: branches can put a big hole in your roof. Best course of action: trim those tree branches.

The best thing you can do for your roof is to trust its care to the roof maintenance professionals at Décor Construction. We know how important roof maintenance is in Tulsa, and we have the experience needed to get and keep your roof in good condition so it can keep protecting you and your home. We are here to help, and having us on your side means your roof is in good hands.
